An attractively presented book featuring 50 tipped in water-colour view of Oxford, each mounted on coloured textured paper, with facing descriptive text. Fifty Water-Colour Drawings of Oxford, Reproduced in Colour. With Brief Descriptive Notes by Edward C. Alden. Published by Alden & Co, Ltd., Bocardo Press, Oxford and Simpkin, Marshall & Co., Ltd., London. Undated, but consensus seems to indicate c. 1912. Possible first edition. A good hardback with textured paper over boards, printed titles, and inlaid image to front cover. Mild wear. Soundly bound. Endpapers utilise the same textured brown paper as the mount pages for the tipped-in printed colour images. Small bookseller's sticker (Oxford) to first pastedown. The book is missing the front free endpaper (either one or two blank brown paper leaves). Text is good - some scattered age spotting throughout the book, but an attractive copy nonetheless. Text in English. Unnumbered pages, but featuring 50 tipped in views (all present as called for). Dimensions: Approximately 245mm high x 175mm wide x 31mm deep. Weight approximately 726g (unpacked).
