A propos de cet article

In pale (faded? ) blue cloth boards with Gilt title to spine. Gilt aeroplane motif on front cover. A previous owner has coloured in parts of the boards to try to match the colour where it has been faded/sunned/marked. Spine and boards sound and look OK, but discoloured and the covers are marked. Head/tail of spine bumped. The book is now protected in a clear book plastic cover, and looks quite good. Light blue endpapers with the edges 'browned'. All Page fore edges browned. Internally VERY GOOD. (i-xvi) + 496 pp. B & W photographic frontispiece. Quotation. Preface. Foreword by Air Commodore Strang Graham, MC, GM. Illustrations in b/w with 11 maps and diagrams, most fold-out. Edited by his widow. " A detailed description of the author's life from his enlistment in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, 1905, his subsequent aviation training at the central flying school 1912-1913, etc, and Cowton's Aviation and Kite Balloon service. He served with various kite balloon sections in England, France and Belgium during the First World War. The bulk of the book, however, is devoted to his years with 27 (B) Squadron of the Royal Air Force in India after he was posted to Ismailia with No 14 balloon section in 1916 and continued through the Middle East Campaign until the Turkish retreat in 1917, finally returning to the UK in 1929, etc, etc." ; 001639; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall. …
