1838 First edition, first impression. Size 12mo, 515 pages including index. Olive green cloth covered boards with gilt vignette to the front cover and gilt titles to the spine, all edges gilt, pale yellow end-papers. With printed title page and extra engraved title page which has 1839 as the date not 1838. Condition very good, corners and spine ends rubbed, front hinge weak, previous owner's ex-libris label to front paste-down, gift inscription dated 1839 to front end-paper, the contents - the texts and plates and other illustrations are very clean throughout. Although no author is attributed to the book Copac show it as Charles MacIntosh. With beautiful hand-coloured frontispiece, coloured vignette to title page and 9 further hand-coloured plates as called for.
