Item description from seller

Condition: Very Good Hardcover. No dust jacket. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 58-10751 Green boards with tan cloth spine and adjoining cloth panels; brown spine label with gilt title. Binding sound. Light rubbing and shelf wear to boards and extremities, with modest wear at corners and spine ends. Tan cloth shows age-related darkening and light soiling. Page edges are toned, with scattered spotting and age marks to endpapers and preliminary leaves. Interior pages shown are generally clean, and the numerous full-color photographic plates remain bright and vivid. Includes more than 600 numbered color flower photographs, descriptive text, and an index providing popular and Latin botanical names. Listing photos show the exact copy included in this sale. Presents a mid-century survey of ornamental flowers through more than 600 color photographs and accessible botanical and horticultural commentary. Authors explore temperate and tropical flowers of the Old and New Worlds, tracing their geographic origins, introduction into cultivation, and development through plant breeding and hybridization. Discussions also connect flowering plants with garden history, plant exploration, and their cultural relationships with people. Common and Latin botanical names support identification and reference use. The combination of vintage flower photography, ornamental horticulture, and historical perspectives on cultivated plants gives the volume continuing interest for gardeners, botanical enthusiasts, and readers interested in mid-century natural history.

Description de la boutique

An independent online bookseller offering a varied, deliberately selected inventory of fiction, nonfiction, collectible editions, advance reading copies, reference works, and other books chosen for their quality, interest, or unusual subject matter. We keep our inventory selective rather than building a large catalog of commonplace titles. Each book is individually examined and conservatively graded, with attention given to edition, printing, notable attributes, and condition. Listings describe the actual copy offered for sale, and photographs are provided whenever useful for evaluating condition or collectible features. Orders are carefully packaged, shipped promptly, and include tracking. Our focus is accurate descriptions, careful handling, and dependable service.

Spécialité

Signed and limited editions, collectible hardcovers, modern first editions, advance reading copies, quality trade paperbacks, and select nonfiction and reference works.
