Item description from seller

[MATH]. Robert W. Easton. "Geometric Methods for Discrete Dynamical Systems (Oxford Engineering Science Series 50)." New York and Oxford: Oxford University Press. Printed in the USA, 1998. First edition, first printing. English language. Hardcover with black morocco boards titled in bronze. Nonfiction mathematical engineering text in seven chapters with preface, five appendices, references, index, and numerous black-and-white mathematical drawings and formulae. 9 1/2 x 6 1/3 inches. 16 oz. xiv, 158 pp. Shelf-wear. Abrasions at top right-hand corner of front board. Small stain on fore-edge. Text clean. Good Plus. ISBN: 0195085450. "This book looks at dynamics as an iteration process where the output of a function is fed back as an input to determine the evolution of an initial state over time. The theory examines errors which arise from round-off in numerical simulations, from the inexactness of mathematical models used to describe physical processes, and from the effects of external controls. The author provides an introduction accessible to beginning graduate students and emphasizing geometric aspects of the theory. Conley's ideas about rough orbits and chain-recurrence play a central role in the treatment. The book will be a useful reference for mathematicians, scientists, and engineers studying this field, and an ideal text for graduate courses in dynamical systems.".

Description de la boutique

I sell uncommon art catalogs, academic monographs, and prints, as well as rare ephemera such as posters and zines. I ship from Brooklyn, New York. I am an alum of the Rare Book School and the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, as well as Indiana University and the Ohio State University. I started in the trade at the Wexner Center for the Arts bookstore, and I have previously worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago's Department of Prints and Drawings, and the Indiana University Art Museum's center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. More recently, I was the rare book cataloger at Donald Heald Rare Books, for whom I worked the ABAA's New York International Antiquarian Book Fair.
