A propos de cet article

New York: J.K. Hetsch, 1886. This speech by Gladstone was "Moving for Leave to Introduce a Bill for the better Government of Ireland, On Thursday, April 8th, 1886." He was pleading for Irish Home Rule, andt is considered one of his finest orations. Alas, it was defeated by thirty votes. This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition [stated "Copyright for the United States Secured."] . Per COPAC, copies are held by several different publishers in the UK; this American edition is scarce (two copies held in USA). Softbound, in sewn paper wraps; with titling in black on the front cover. Clean text; 32 pages. Paper is lightly toned but remains supple and clear. There is a small closed tear at the bottom of the front cover and a chip at the top edge of the rear; the rear has a tiny chip in the middle of the text, but is readable through context. First American Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
