(Quote from inside front of dustwrapper blurb). ***W[illiam] Murdoch Duncan 1909 - 1976 who was born and also died in Glasgow, was a prolific Scottish crime author who wrote two hundred and twenty crime novels, fifty-three under his own name, the others under various pseudonyms: John Cassells, John Dallas, Neill Graham, Martin Locke, Peter Malloch and Lovat Marshall etc., and hundreds of short stories. The pseudonyms he chose depended on the style of novel he was writing. Novels published under his own name W. Murdoch Duncan were detective novels concentrating on organised crime. His books are described as "un-putdownable", and many have detailed, complex characterization and intricate sub-plots. ***First impression of the true first edition of 'The Hour of The Bishop', a particularly hard to find title in collectable condition, especially in its original scarce dustwrapper. Of interest to collectors of William Murdoch Duncan, Scottish writers, and rare crime and detective fiction first editions. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
