?Poems of Hans Magnus Enzensberger" was issued in the Penguin Modern European Poets series in 1968. The poems were translated from the German to English by Michael Hamburger, Jerome Rothenberg, and the Author. The book has an Introduction by Michael Hamburger. From the back cover write-up : " This selection draws on Hans Magnus Enzensberger's three published volumes and also includes a number of other poems.

The poet was a German - although uniquely cosmopolitan in outlook and range of sympathies - who was shaped by the Second World War and who expresses an awareness of the ideology responsible for that war and of the breakdown which followed it. His social and moral criticism owes much to Marxism, yet is free from party allegiance." The front cover has a tea ring and some attendant transparent staining that is visible when the book is viewed in the right angle. There are a few very neatly effected tiny check marks at the head of a few poems.

CONDITION -- GOOD PLUS -- This is a previously owned book that remains basically clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted:
EXTERIOR : The tea ring and attendant light staining on the front cover is what keeps the book from having a very good condition designation; spine has weathering; else clean . Text-block edges are toned , else clean. (As you can see the staining does not show up in our picture of the cover)
BINDING : Solid
