“Poems of Hans Magnus Enzensberger" was issued in the Penguin Modern European Poets series in 1968. The poems were translated from the German to English by Michael Hamburger, Jerome Rothenberg, and the Author. The book has an Introduction by Michael Hamburger. From the back cover write-up : " This selection draws on Hans Magnus Enzensberger's three published volumes and also includes a number of other poems. The poet was a German - although uniquely cosmopolitan in outlook and range of sympathies - who was shaped by the Second World War and who expresses an awareness of the ideology responsible for that war and of the breakdown which followed it. His social and moral criticism owes much to Marxism, yet is free from party allegiance." The front cover has a tea ring and some attendant transparent staining that is visible when the book is viewed in the right angle.
