A propos de cet article

Detailed engraved 19th century English double-hemispheric maps of the world issued by Henry Teesdale of London in March 1831. Two hand-colored engraved maps of the Eastern and Western hemispheres. In fine condition. Double matted and framed. Each piece measures 24 inches by 24 inches. An attractive presentation. Henry Teesdale was a prominent London-based map publisher, recognized as an early Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (elected in 1830), who gained success through his publication of various atlases and individual maps, often collaborating with colleagues like John Crane Dower, Christopher Greenwood, and Josiah Henshall, even after his initial partnership with John Hordan and William Colling Hodson dissolved in 1832; his business thrived to the point where he became a registered partner in the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1845.
