With the bookplate for Bridgnorth Library to the front paste down of each volume and a red label to the top of each spine. Four volumes in half calf with gilt titles, bands and volume number to each spine. Boards showing some signs of wear with the leather quarters either absent or more likely vellum. John MacCulloch FRS (1773-1835) was a Scottish geologist. He was the first geologist to be employed by the government in Britain and is best known for his pioneering texts on geology and for producing the first geological maps of Scotland. He introduced the word "malaria" into the English language.
