A propos de cet article

12mo. 281 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in original brown cloth. The binding is rubbed and bumped. Some chipping at the spine ends, especially at the foot. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. There is a little damping in the gutter at the front of the book near the bottom. At the rear the damping at the gutter is heavy. Throughout much of the text block there is no damping, but it grows towards the rear of the book. Collates complete with the frontis portrait and two other illustrations. David P. Mapes (1798-1890) was born in Coxsackie, New York and had several ventures in New York and Pennsylvania before he moved to the Wisconsin Territory in 1844 and helped found Ripon, WI. He also help found Ripon College. The Republican Party was founded in Ripon in 1854. Quite Scarce. Not in Howes.

Description de la boutique

Pages Past is a small used and antiquarian bookshop holding 10,000-15,000 volumes. We are located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most of our books are hardback, although we have a few bookcases of paperbacks with recent fiction and classic literature represented. We also have a fairly good collection of Eastern Philosophy & Religion (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism) as well as New Age. Most of these are recent paperbacks in nice condition. We have a good collection of antiquarian books in the fields of Americana, old leather bound books, and early religious and scholarly books. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays. We are always interested in buying quality books in very good condition.…
