Original colour illustrated wraps 19x24cm. 128pp including route map, results tables, and many b/w photos. Very good, creased and bumped to corners, with some staining to front. This was inspired by a challenge laid down by Neil Vincent to his cousin Eric Cecil: "Going round and round in circles does not interest me. organise some long distance event on the open road so that one can get into a car, slam the door and motor a few thousand miles around Africa". The first rally took place in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. This Illustrated celebration charts the history of the annual event in its earliest years during 1953 to 1965.
