Item description from seller

Founded in London in 1995, the Imaginative Book Illustration Society (IBIS) is a prestigious interest group dedicated to the academic study, mapping, and preservation of 19th and 20th-century book art. Unlike standard collector newsletters, their peer-reviewed journals are archived in national libraries as definitive, final academic reference authorities. Each volume behaves like an entry-level textbook for specific artistic careers. Volume 1 features groundbreaking, in-depth biographical profiles and checklists for Willy Pogány and Alice B. Woodward; Volume 2 unpacks John Everett Millais and Eleanor Vere Boyle; and Volume 3 breaks down Walter Crane and Harry Furniss. Approximately 144 pages per volume. Densely illustrated with continuous black-and-white figures and premium full-colour plates. Includes thorough, definitive artist bibliographies and checklists. Because printing runs were limited strictly to society members, these early out-of-print volumes are highly sought after by modern book historians. ABOUT THESE VOLUMES: First Editions, First Printings. Three-Volume Softcover Journal Lot. Published by the Imaginative Book Illustration Society (IBIS) between 1999 and 2009. Includes a complete consecutive run of their premium early volumes: IBIS Journal 1 (Aspects of Illustration, 1999), IBIS Journal IBIS Journal 2 (Singular Visions, 2002), and IBIS Journal 3 (Diverse Talents, 2009). Beautifully produced with sewn bindings on thick ivory paper, featuring full-colour laminated covers. Densely illustrated throughout with text figures, line drawings, and vibrant colour plates alongside peer-reviewed scholarship and authoritative bibliographical checklists of classic illustrators. Condition is Fine across all three volumes—exceptionally clean, tight, square, and bright all round with perfectly sharp corners and no modern owner inscriptions or internal markings. A brilliant, gift-quality reference set for the serious book-art collector. [Note: Heavy multi-book parcel; UK domestic tracking and shipping costs are fully absorbed into the list price].

Description de la boutique

I have collected books most of my life. My collection has reduced now to about 4,000 items. I list a few more as time goes by! It is difficult sometimes to allow old friends to move on. Of course, they can find fresh enthusiasm from their new owners. No matter how many items you handle, there's always excitement and interest. It is vital however that my items are described accurately and I would hope to offer good value. If you see something that you feel is 'too high' for your pocket, don't hesitate to make me an offer. I try to keep the postage costs down, and within the United Kingdom this will be free. Posting abroad will be competitive, and often I will not ask for additional amounts if this is viable. But weight of items is the deciding factor. I will add images to my descriptions, and I hope that the combination will help you to decide. Regardless, always double check or take time to contact me for further information, or merely just to clarify a point. Ask for more images. If I can reduce anything I will do so. If you purchase more than one item, then offering a decent discount is likely. If items are not as described or you have a valid problem with any item, then I am happy to make a full or partial refund. This will be in line with all Statutory guidelines e.g returning the book in the condition it was delivered, and do let me know as quickly as possible. If damage has occurred then try to provide images. Ring me on 01352-810931
