A propos de cet article

Philadelphia: Hubbard Brothers, 1888. An interesting and important source for the work of the Christian Commission, which provided both religious support and social services to the Union troops. Edward Parmalee Smith (1827-1876) was Field Secretary to the Commission. Somewhat scarce - only six institutional copies held. Originally published in 1868, this is a Very Good copy of the First Edition done by Hubbard. 512 pages, indexed. Clean and supple text. A nice example of Victorian decorative binding, gray cloth with embossing in black and gold. Small tear to FFEP, and the upper part of the spine has been rubbed to rob it of some of its color. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition Thus. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
