3 parts bound as one. Very scarce first edition. Full calf leather binding, 7 compartments to spine, title lable missing. Binding rubbed especially at corners. Joints head and tail repaired with overlaid strips of calve. Front board cracked but cords intact. 3 book plates of previous owners and pencil notes on inside front board. Loose end paper ink name , title page ink name "John Strype, 1669" who was English clergyman, historian and biographer. Also ink comment, otherwise very good unmarked copy. Also with extensive tables of coins, histories, genealogies, etc. Large and beautiful woodcut initials throughout along with elaborate engraved head and tail pieces. Description de la boutique

We are two bibliophiles currently selling some of the books from the collection of the actor Paul Scofield. This includes many first editions signed and given to him by the authors as well as working copies of the many plays he performed in. There is a nice collection of books relating to his role as Sir Thomas More in the 1966 play 'A Man for all Seasons' We've tried to give as much detail as possible on the condition of our books but are more than happy to send more photos if required.
