A propos de cet article

Clean pages except for mild toning along the foreedges; square, tight binding; the full red cloth cover is noticeably faded along the spine, with some surface wear evident along the spine sides and around spine ends as well as a small spot of finish loss at the lower right front and loose threads at the tips of the free corners, otherwise sound. 279pp. incl. index. John Chambers was the second governor of the Territory of Iowa and vocal in his desire to end economic abuses of the Native Americans in the region by the new immigrants, possibly a refrain to a song learned in his Irish childhood; nonetheless it was his task to negotiate treaties with resident and neighboring tribes, making for a surprisingly suspenseful character narrative. Also includes some autobiographical writing by Gov. Chambers.; Iowa Biographical Series Series.
