New York: Dodd, Mead, (1954). First edition, 1st printing. 8vo. 374 pp. Original shiny black boards, stamped in yellow, in original unclipped ($3.50) dust-jacket. Mild edge wear, particular to spine ends, corners, tips. Handling and shelf wear, with rubbing, surface nicks and light wrinkles. Jacket shows foxing - particular to rear panel, a few small tears and nicks - one particular to the front panel edge at center. Protected in archival mylar. Book is moderately tight, square and firm. Mild handling, shelf wear present to panels. Page edges mostly bright with a few tiny nicks to edges, top text block mildly toned. Light curling to spine ends, rubbing to corners. Previous owner’s information neatly penned atop front free end paper. Spine titles mildly faded. Purportedly just 5,000 copies were printed of this novel.
