The first Russian edition of the First volume of the epic  "The Lord of the Rings". For the first time, Russian readers finally got acquainted with Middle-earth.  Some names and titles are stressed. The subtitle "The First Chronicle" stated in the output data implied a subsequent publication of the remaining volumes - but this happened after the collapse of the Union, 8 years later. The prologue is shortened to 6 pages, many poems are missing, including "Namarië". At the end there is a short afterword by V. Muravyov "The Creation of Reality" with a short biography of Tolkien. Translation from English by A. Kistyakovsky and V. Muravyov. Poems translated by A. Kistyakovsky. Illustrations by G. Kalinovsky. The first edition had a blue cover (this copy), an additional edition with a white one. Very slight 'waviness' on the upper edge without streaks, minor dent on the edge (all in the photo), otherwise like new.
