A propos de cet article
Let There Be Light by Pete Caesar was published by Ocean & Great Lakes Marine Press in 1984. This approximately 8 1/4" X 9 1/2", 30-year-old, 102-page, Signed First Edition offering is a rebound, ex-library copy in VG condition, though it does have a few library markings. The insides are practically like new, in addition to being fascinating reading for lovers of one lighthouse or the entire population of same. This offering is SIGNED in the center of the blank page between the front loose end page and the main Title Page. From Introduction, ".Lighthouses, which both warn and protect a myriad of ships, are more often than not the noble victors in a storm. These heroic winners out there from all along the U. S. and Canada sea and river coasts are saluted in the publication that follows. ." Saluted, indeed, Reader. Some 91 lighthouses, from 21 states and Canada, are each sketched in black and white and lovingly described, in historical and physical detail, by the author. Beginning with Chicago Harbor Light, in Illinois, of course, and concluding with Point Loma Lighthouse Station, San Diego, California, just a few others featured are Grand Haven Light(MI), Strawberry Island Light(Canada), Marblehead Lighthouse(OH), Presque Isle Light(PA), Cape Elizabeth Light(ME), Nantucket Lighthouse(MA), Sandy Hook Light(NJ), Cape Hatteras Lighthouse(NC), Charleston Lighthouse(SC), Key West Lighthouse(FL), Cat Island Light(MS), Timbalier Lighthouse(LA), Aransas Pass Light(TX), Cape Flattery Light Station(WA), Cape Hinchinbrook Lighthouse(AK), and Pigeon Point Light(CA). I WISH I COULD NAME THEM ALL! Also included are Contents Pages, 4 full-page, hand-drawn maps("Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River", "Atlantic Coast", "Florida Keys & Gulf", and "Pacific Coast") that pinpoint locations of houses discussed in text, and, finally, References. Thanks !!
