FIRST EDITION FIRST ISSUE (1914), no imprint inside the book, "Nelson" on cover only, (Nelson Ltd in 1915), small 4to, 235 x 180 mm, 9¼ x 7 inches, cream cloth, lettered orange, coloured plate on upper cover in orange frame. Pages printed 1 side only on coated paper. 12 very pretty colour plates of young children in 'period' costume, line illustrations to title and pictorial borders to all text pages. Matilda visits her cousins in the country. 1 very light faint scratch across plate on upper cover, small faint stain to lower corner of upper cover, prize bookplate on front pastedown dated 1915.
