Richard Chopping illustrated DJ, 16s net. THE DUST JACKET IS SOME SORT OF ADVANCE STATE DUST JACKET AS GILBERT DESCRIBES THE DUST JACKET ON THE FIRST AND ALL LATER PRINTINGS AS "ALL FOUR DUST JACKET CORNERS FEATURE JONATHAN CAPE'S DECORATIVE CLIP" (GILBERT, FLEMING THE BIOGRAPHY, PP 359); AND DESCRIBES THE UNCORRECTED PROOF DUST JACKET AS HAVING "ALL FOUR CORNERS UNCLIPPED" (PP 356) AND THEN MENTIONS A NUMBER OF 1ST PRINTING ADVANCE COPIES (PP 356-57) THAT WERE SENT OUT TO VARIOUS PEOPLE (INCLUDING PRESIDENT KENNEDY). THIS COPY HAS ALL FOUR CORNERS UNCLIPPED BUT OTHERWISE IS IDENTICAL TO THE 1ST PRINTING DUST JACKET, THUS IT'S SOME SORT OF ADVANCE STATE. THERE IS A FAINT TINY STAMP ON RFE THAT SAYS "7400 APR 63" Book has no creased page corners, no foxing to pages or endpapers, hint of dust soiling/foxing to outer page edges (no age darkening), no soiling or scotch tape marks to endpapers, no former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside, no internal hinge splitting, no wear to board edges, board corners or spine tips (minor bumping to spine tips), no bumped board corners, no oxidizing/wear to gilt lettering on spine, no soiling/discoloration to boards. ADVANCE STATE UNCLIPPED CORNER dust jacket has no chipping, tearing or creasing, hint of wear to spine tips, almost no wear to front flap crease (just at flap crease corners), almost no wear to left/right on spine, no edge wear, slight spine sun darkening (common defect with this DJ - normally the spine is found badly age darkened), foxing spots/age darkening+ primarily around flap creases otherwise no soiling or staining, almost no dust rubbing to panels & spine (common defect with this light colored DJ). Overall a FINE-/N-FINE book in VG+ condition ADVANCE STATE UNCLIPPED CORNER dust jacket (not price clipped) of any Ian Fleming original U.K. Cape hardcover book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Ian Fleming James Bond 1st printing hardcover appearances up for sale.
