A propos de cet article

Description :

Illustrated with 100 full-page photographs and 56 diagrams. 252 pages. Vaile aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of golf, particularly its mechanics and principles, to help players become more confident and skilled in the game. The book addresses the need for proper instruction and scientific exactness in golf, discussing the importance of understanding the mechanical principles and the flight and run of the ball. With illustrations by professional golfer George Duncan, the book covers various golf strokes and techniques while emphasizing the role of both knowledge and practice in developing one's game. Beautiful copy with many uncut pages, never fully read by the owner. "PRESENTATION COPY" in blind stamp on the title page. This copy has a lengthy hand-written letter with envelope addressed to JOHN SUTHERLAND, GOLF VIEW, DORNOCH, N.B. from D. Ditchfold of the Daily News Office, London requesting a criticism of the book. John Sutherland was the Secretary of Royal Dornoch for many years and has written some notes about the book on the reverse of the envelope. It is an unusual letter to accompany a presentation copy requesting a review. It is apparent the two men are friends. In the letter Ditchfold writes: "Vaile is a 'bounder' and knows nothing about golf (phrase underlined) so far as experience. He never tried to play the game until recently and he certainly could not get a 24 handicap. He is a fairly clever journalist on the make." It is a wonder Sutherland ever read the book after that introduction to the author. Slight spine fading, one pair of pages roughly split. None the less this is a lovely copy with bright cover illustration and clean white pages, protected in clear fitted covers, encased in a custom made green cloth slipcase. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. N° de réf. du vendeur 201330
