London: Herbert Jenkins Limited, 1946. First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. In the Frank Ford dust jacket. Some moderate shelf wear present, a couple of small, closed tears. Neat tape repair to the head of the spine. It has not been price clipped (8/6 net). The orange boards are sharp, but with a small stain to the top edge. Internally, there are some additional spots to the prelims, and vague tape residue, but it is otherwise clean. The text blocks are bright, with some very vague foxing and one minute small ink spot. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in very good condition.
Written during Wodehouse?s time as a prisoner of war at Tost (now Toszek, Poland), Because of the controversy surrounding his imprisonment and subsequent radio broadcasts from Berlin, the book was first published in the US in 1942, but its publication in the UK was delayed until 1946.
