A propos de cet article

How about some travel books, a genre which has often caught my interest, especially if they are well illustrated and nicely decorated. Here's one.hopefully of a series which might interest others: "Motor Days in England- A Record of a Journey Through Picturesque Southern England with Historical and Literary Observations by the Way" by John M. Dillon. The book is well illustrated, with 64 illustrations, including drawings by the Author and some photos by him as well, and I take it a few reproductions of well-known views from the area. There is a nicely done fold-out color map of the route of our travelers at the end of the book. The top edge of the pages is gilt. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are bright and attractive, with just some light bumping to the corners and spine tips. The spine has a small split on the upper back edge and is a bit faded but still quite nice. Inside, there is a signed bookplate of a former owner, some notations in pencil by the bookseller, and a small label from the bookseller (W.B. CLarke Co. Booksellers & Stationers, Boston) on the front endpaper. There is a small water stain in the upper seam of the book which is bold early on but fades by about page 75, all without affecting the text. Some of the illustrations, like the tissue-guard of the Frontispiece, have attracted some foxing. The pages in general, however, are clean and bright, without toning or foxing. The fold-out map is pristine as you will see in my photos. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
