Octavo. Hardcover. Illustrated jacket. 156 pages : illustrations ; 22 cm. "Mount Analogue is, in a sense, a science-fiction morality tale. It begins with the search by a group of six friends -- a doctor, an inventor, an artist, a mathematician, a sociologist, and so on -- for an island-mountain, the 'link between Earth and Heaven which must exsit in material and human form, otherwise our [human] situation would be without hope'. Sogol (or logos), the leader of the expedition -- in a glittering tour de force of inductive reasoning -- fixes the position of Mount Analogue; attributes its invisibility to an incasing curvature of space, an 'intangible rampart' that deflects light rays; furthermore, he determines the means by which the curvature may be invaded." (Harper's Bazaar June 1960 p.72-73 (brackets in original)). VG/G+. Jacket price clipped, toned, Wear at head/tail of spine edges, and corners. Boards have some light soiling and gift inscription penned on he front end paper. Otherwise clean and unmarked. N° de réf. du vendeur 212617
