Sogol (or logos), the leader of the expedition -- in a glittering tour de force of inductive reasoning -- fixes the position of Mount Analogue; attributes its invisibility to an incasing curvature of space, an 'intangible rampart' that deflects light rays; furthermore, he determines the means by which the curvature may be invaded."
