An ex-Library copy of this contemporary 1960s study of Civil Rights in the USA - the first impression of the first UK edition, published in 1963. The book was originally published in the USA by Harper & Row in 1962. ***Very good in dark-green cloth-covered boards, with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. No bumps to the boards. Corners sharp. Cloth clean and unmarked. The book would be described as near fine except for the fact that there are library stamps and enclosures. Internally very good, with no creases or tears. Pages clean. However, there is still a library sheet and sticker affixed to the front free endpaper and pastedown, a Kingston upon Hull Training College Library stamp to the title page, a stamp and writing to the printer's page, and a lending sheet and sticker to the front endpaper and pastedown respectively. There are also two vertical strips of tape off-setting to the front and rear free pastedowns, caused by the library having previously taped the dustwrapper to the boards. Interestingly, the library sheet at the back shows that the book was a very popular read in the 1970s! [Please see scans] ***In a good only original printed price-clipped dustwrapper designed by Michael Harvey. The dustwrapper would be described as very good, except for some staining to the top back of the front panel - not really visible from the front, and some tape offsetting along the edges of the front and rear flaps. The dustwrapper has only slight wear and rubbing at the edges. ***224mm x 145mm. 271 pages including Appendices, Bibliography and Index at the back of the book. ***'Here is a distinguished American Negro's comprehensive and informed report on his people's mood of militancy, and a searching examination of the reasons for it. Of interest to collectors of contemporary works on the racial unrest and Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging materials; any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only; for the UK, our standard rate is for first class, and the priority rate includes tracked (signed for) delivery; for International sales, our standard rate is for Airmail delivery, and the priority rate is for tracked (International signed for) delivery. We would prefer that you choose the priority rate (tracked option) for higher value books of say £50 or more. Please note that we will always reduce shipping fees where appropriate e.g. for smaller (lighter) books when we accept your order. For heavier books and sets etc. we will often 'soak up' the extra cost, but on occasion, we may need to charge more than the quoted shipping fee. However, customers will always have the option to either accept or decline the revised order amount. We will also reduce the overall shipping fee for multiple orders. We will endeavour to ship all books within two business days of receiving your order.
