A propos de cet article

Protracted social conflict need protracted efforts for conflict transformation, peace making and peace building. To understand the necessities of protracted peace efforts we have to study past experiences and to analyse them carefully. This is the aim of the Two volume publication 'Negotiating Peace In Sri Lanka : Efforts, Failures, & Lessons'. The second volume focuses on the peace efforts undertaken by the United National Front government under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe (in combination with President Chandrika Kumaratunge) and the LTTE from December 2001 till the United Peoples Freedom Alliance took over the Government in April 2004. The Authors and interview partners represent a unique selection of key persons who were directly involved on the government side in the design and management of the Peace process. Hon Prof GL Pieris, Bradman Weerakoon, Austin Fernando, Bernard Goonetilleke. The LTTE and Tamil perspectives on the 2002-2004 peace process are made available through a summary of the chapter of Anton Balasingham's book 'War and Peace' and a collection of artciles by the late Dharmaratnam Sivaram.
