Description de la boutique

A unique collection of primarily English and French books gathered in Egypt by my late brother, Bent Bach Christophersen. He was bookseller by education having finished his studies at Foyles in London in 1972. He moved to Cairo in the early 1990s where he noticed a surprising number of fine and rare books – not to mention pretty unique memorabilia’s - originating from Europe, to be found in the many, many small shops selling pretty much everything on the streets of Cairo. Intrigued, he found out that most of these books were left behind by the Europeans who, when president Abdel Nasser came to power in 1954, were asked to leave Egypt. They were given a very short notice and only brought their most prized possessions with them. My brother passed away early April 2022. He gave me the task to look after his collection. The money raised from the sales will go to the upkeep of his flat in Cairo. I hope you will enjoy browsing through the list as it will grow over the coming months.
