A propos de cet article

"THE NOOSE IS DRAWN by Willetta Ann Barber and R.F. Schabelitz with its original dust jacket. 1945 1st American edition, early printing (lacking "A" 1st printing designation on the copyright page); Charles Scribner's Sons; New York. The book features actual sketches drawn by police/sketch artist Christopher "Kit" Storm (provided by real-life artist and co-author R.F. Schabelitz) directly into the story. Like the other books in the series (Murder Draws a Line, Pencil Points to Murder), the story blends traditional whodunit puzzle elements with the art world, where Kit uses his sketching pad as a detective tool to untangle a complex murder case. The story follows Christopher "Kit" Storm, a Manhattan commercial artist on leave from the F.B.I., and his chatty new bride (who acts as the breathless narrator of the tale). The mystery begins when the couple discovers the corpse of a man named Lawrence Lang right on the terrace of their New York apartment. The investigation quickly plunges them into a web of deceit involving a group of people raising money for the Red Cross. Initially, there are seven main suspects for the murder, all of whom have their portraits sketched by Kit early in the book—including Lang himself, under the suspicion that he might have taken his own life. As Kit and the police work the case, the stakes rise when two more of the seven suspects are murdered, systematically narrowing the field. Throughout the novel, readers can examine Kit’s detailed sketches of the crime scenes and evidence to try to spot the clues and solve the murders alongside him. Condition: Clean covers and spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. The text pages are clean and appear unread with no notable issues found. A small bit of paper is adhered to the front pastedown, as if a label had once been applied and then removed, leaving behind a small bit of paper. Overall the book is in Near Fine condition. The dust jacket is un-clipped with the price intact on the front flap; small bits missing at the top/bottom edges of the spine, and at the flap crease corners; light soiling to the covers and spine.overall the jacket is in Good condition.…
