First edition, deluxe issue, published in the special sheep binding simultaneously with the trade issue. Milne's second book of poetry for children took only two months to eclipse the sales records of the previous two books in the Winnie-the-Pooh series. Octavo. Line drawings by E. H. Shepard. Original deluxe blue sheep, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, Christopher Robin vignette on front cover within gilt border, pink pictorial endpapers, edges gilt, blue silk bookmarker detached and loosely inserted. Spine ends chipped, affecting one letter of imprint, slight lean and sunning to spine, gilt bright, rubbing to edges, contents clean. A very good copy.
