A propos de cet article

Olivier Masson — Les Inscriptions chypriotes syllabiques. Recueil critique et commenté. École Française d’Athènes. Études chypriotes, I. Paris: Éditions E. de Boccard, 1961. First Edition. Rare and important first edition of this foundational work on Cypriot epigraphy, authored by Olivier Masson (1922–1997), one of the leading scholars of ancient Cyprus. This volume, published in the prestigious Études chypriotes series by the École Française d’Athènes, remains a cornerstone for the study of Cypriot syllabic inscriptions and their historical, philological, and archaeological context. The book presents a comprehensive corpus of Cypriot syllabic inscriptions, critically collected and commented upon, offering detailed transcriptions, linguistic notes, and historical interpretation. It is considered one of the standard reference works for scholars of ancient Greek dialects, epigraphy, and Eastern Mediterranean archaeology. Published by Éditions E. de Boccard in 1961, this edition has become scarce on the market, as most copies are preserved in academic libraries. The present copy bears library stamps from Rijksuniversiteit Gent (dated July 4, 1963, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy). Bound in the original blue cloth with gilt lettering on the cover and spine. Condition: Good working copy, though with visible signs of library provenance (stamps, number on title page), some wear to the cloth boards, and damage to the lower part of the spine. Binding remains solid, and the interior pages are clean, unmarked, and well-preserved. A very rare opportunity to acquire this essential reference book for the fields of Classical Studies, Epigraphy, and Cypriot archaeology.…
