A propos de cet article

First edition in book form of Wells's ambitious survey of world history for a popular audience, from the formation of the Earth to the aftermath of the First World War and concluding with his vision of a future federal world state. The Outline was first published in 24 fortnightly parts between November 1919 and November 1920; the sheets were also issued in book form as this "library edition". Cassell published a cheaper one-volume edition without the colour plates and some footnotes in September 1920, after the first volume of the library edition and shortly before the second. Wells 70. John Batchelor, H. G. Wells, 1985. 2 vols, large octavo (266 x 205 mm). 47 colour plates, illustrated throughout with maps and line drawings. Near-contemporary blue half morocco, spines lettered in gilt, blue cloth sides, blue cloth endpapers, top edges gilt. Spines slightly mottled, some spotting and soiling, a few old tape repairs to the gutters. A very good copy.…
