A propos de cet article

A first impression of this new revised and expanded edition, superseding previous collected editions. the original "Collected Poems" was first published in 1933. Second state with typographical errors corrected (as stated in a printed Publisher's Note). The first volume in the new Collected Edition of the Works of W. B. Yeats. ***Near fine in dark brown boards with gilt titles and lining to the spine. The boards are clean and unmarked, with the gilt still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. Head and tail of spine slightly remain uncreased. Corner tips sharp. Page block edges lovely and clean. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally also near fine, with no previous ownership inscriptions or annotations. Very light offsetting to the endpapers. Internal pages clean with no foxing or marks. No tears or creasing, even though very thin paper used. ***In a near fine dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £16.95 net. The dustwrapper is complete with no discernible faults. No rubbing, creases, chips or tears, and no fading even to the spine. Dustwrapper bright. ***CONTENTS: PART ONE - LYRICAL - Crossways (1889) -- The Rose (1893) -- The Wind Among the Reeds (1899) -- In the Seven Woods (1904) -- The Green Helmet and Other Poems (1910) -- Responsibilities (1914) -- The Wild Swans at Coole (1919) -- Michael Robartes and the Dancer (1921) -- The Tower (1928) -- The Winding Stair and Other Poems (1933) -- [Parnell's Funeral and Other Poems (1935)] --- Supernatural Songs --- New Poems (1938) --- [Last Poems (1938-39)]. *** NARRATIVE AND DRAMATIC - The Wanderings of Oisin (1889) -- The Old Age of Queen Maeve (1903) -- Baile and Aillinn (1903) -- The Shadowy Waters (1906) -- The Two KIngs (1914) --- The Gift of HarunAl-Rashid (1923). ***PART TWO - ADDITIONAL POEMS (125 in total) *** 747 pages including Appendix A & B, a detailed section of Notes, Index to Titles and Index to First Lines at the back of the book. 225mm x 145mm. ***'This new edition of the poems of W. B. Yeats is the first volume in a new Collected Edition under the general editorship of Richard J. Finneran and George Mills Harper. The existing edition of "The Collected Poems", first published by Macmillan in 1933, and augmented after Yeats's death with later poems in 1950, has long been considered deficient in two respects: the later poems suffered undue textual emendation by Yeats's widow and by Thomas Mark, his editor at Macmillan, and a number of poems published by Yeats in his lifetime, or planned by him for publication at the time of his death, were omitted. This new edition rectifies this deficiency by providing accurate texts of them all and includes 121 additional poems. (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***'The series will provide a uniform edition with definitive texts of the works which Yeats intended to stand as his canon, rectifying the so-called "silent editing" of the current collections. Each book will include annotation of all allusions, references and quotations and, where applicable, a comprehensive index. (Quote taken from the back panel of the dustwrapper) ***A first impression of this new revised and expanded edition - a beautiful copy in the original dustwrapper. A collector's copy of this definitive edition of W. B. Yeats poems. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.…
