A lovely copy (plus a curious document on the Tarot - see below) of the scarce first edition of Basil Ivan Rakoczi's scarce book that explores the history and interpretation of the tarot through the lens of Gypsy lore and occult traditions. Pages are first rate: no inscriptions or markings, not even - quite unusually- the publisher stamp often seen on the title page, this copy is mark-free throughout. Cream boards are clean and bright, and square and tidy. Dust jacket is very good: a few slight creases here and there. Profusely illustrated by the writer. Our copy comes with a curious typed manuscript which came with the book when we purchased it at auction, seemingly an investigation into the core Tarot elements and including some nice illustrations. We haven't been able to identify the author, but the collection this book came from included a number of classic Tarot books and it could in theory be one of those writers. See photos all of which are of the copy for sale (as well as the additional manuscript), we don't use stock photos. More photos available.…
