Folio. (13 4/8 x 10 4/8 inches). 24 lithographed plates on chine colle, some with hand-colouring (margins spotted). Original green cloth decorated in blind, green morocco lettering piece on the front cover (rebacked and with endpapers renewed at an early date, lower outer corner of front board damaged with loss). First collected edition, originally published in parts: "Wild broke wholly new ground in American prints. Single views of cities from a distant vantage point were usual, but showing a whole city as it appeared in facing each point of the compass from a central spot was an innovation" (Snyder). The first four plates compose the panorama of Philadelphia as viewed from just above the rooftops. Other views include: Fairmount from the Basin, View from the Inclined Plane, Market Street, Manayunk, and Laurel Hill Cemetary. From the distinguished library of Thomas W. Streeter.
