2007. First edition - Volume 30 of the New Series of publications of the Scottish Record Society. [vii], 400pp. and 3 colour plates. Sir Richard Maitland of Lethington and Thirlstane (1496-1586) was a Senator of the College of Justice, an Ordinary Lord of Session from 1561 until 1584, and notable Scottish poet. He held the political office of Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland and was also the Keeper of the Privy Seal of Scotland, from 1563 to 1567. His 'Practiques' are a collection of summaries of selected Court of Session decisions between 1550 and 1557, and are in the category of 'Decision Practiques', of which Sir James Balfour's Practiques is the most notable example. The transcription is from John Orr's MS, Glasgow University Library MS Gen 1333. The book is bound in the original dark blue boards with gold titling on the spine. It is in very good condition with light bumping to the spine ends and a crease across the paper covering the front board (this appears to be a production fault and not damage). The contents are tight and clean with no inscription. N° de réf. du vendeur gLaw24
