77 pages. Illustrations. Signed by the author on the title page. She was a teacher in Atlanta and DeKalb County for 26 years, and was Druid Hills High School's Teacher of the Year in 1991. She was adviser to the newspapers in Cross Keys High School and in Druid Hills High, where she also sponsored National Honor Society. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, international honor society for educators. She earned a master's degree from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University after earning a bachelor's degree from Florida State University. She published a book, PRINTER LADY, in 2000, about the first female Georgia newspaper editor, Sarah Hillhouse, 1765-1831. As a result of this biography, Hillhouse was chosen a Georgia Woman of Achievement. Proceeds of book sales went to a scholarship fund. Sarah Hillhouse, first woman newspaper editor in the United States, and her children were courageous Georgians. This book's description of the land lottery and of slavery are historically accurate. Printer Lady is an authentic account of a part of Georgia history that is not too well known to the general public. Sarah Hillhouse lived in Washington/Wilkes County, Georgia in pre-Civil War years. She was the first woman publisher/editor of a newspaper in Georgia called "The Monitor." This was quite an achievement for a woman in those days. Sarah Hillhouse also published the proceedings of the Georgia Legislature in the early 1800s. This book is a must read for young and old alike, especially for those who love Georgia History.…
