Samuel Chamberlain (1895-1975) was a prominent American printmaker, photographer, author, and teacher, widely admired for his exquisitely detailed etchings and lithographs depicting European and American cityscapes and architecture. The book opens with a chronology of the artist's life followed by a series of critical essays addressing etching, lithography, and drypoint as expressive media for interpreting architectural form. The bulk of the volume consists of fully illustrated catalogues of Chamberlain's prints, documenting his artistic development and the breadth of his subject matter. Limited to 1000 copies, the book was designed by Freeman Keith at The Stinehour Press and printed with exceptional precision by The Meriden Gravure Company. N° de réf. du vendeur 009465
