In September 1981, Victorian Railways trading under the name of VicRail, embarked on a major upgrade of Victoria's Country passenger services. The class blue & gold livery was abandoned and in its place a bold new scheme featuring Tangerine with broad Silver bands.This was known as the cup and saucer or teacup livery.
