A Scarce Chancery Reporter Overlooked by Wallace Finch, Heneage [1620-1682]. Reports of Cases Decreed in the High Court of Chancery, During the Time Heneage Finch, Afterwards Earl of Nottingham, Was Lord Chancellor. In Many of Which Decrees he was Assisted by Some of the Judges of the Common Law. All which Cases are Truly Stated upon the Pleadings, And the Arguments on Each Side Clearly Reported; Together with the Opinions of Those Judges, Who Sate as Assistants to the Chancellor Before he Pronounced his Decrees. To Which are Added Marginal Notes, Shewing Where Those Decrees are Founded on the Civil Law, And Agree Therewith. None of These Cases ever Printed Before, And All of them Carefully Collected by a Gentleman who Attended the Said Court, And was Himself of Counsel in the Said Cases. With Proper Tables; One of the Names of the Cases, The Other of the Principal Matters Therein Contained. [London]: Printed by E. and R. Nutt, and R. Gosling, 1735. Moderate toning to text, occasional faint dampstaining, dampspotting, light soiling and light foxing to margins, light foxing and mild edgewear to preliminaries, early owner annotations and early owner initials (W.L., dated 1744) to front endleaf, struck-through early owner signature (of John Reilly) and two later library inkstamps to title page, early armorial bookplate (of John Reilly of the Middle Temple) to verso, brief annotations to a few passages. $750. * Third edition. Covers the years 1673-1681. Finch, 1st Earl of Nottingham, was an expert on municipal law. The first edition of this reporter was published in 1671; the last two editions in 1815 and 1902.
