The Return of the King 1st US Edition 11th Printing in Fair condition with moderate water damage to the boards and DJ, however the contents are unaffected and quite clean. The non-price clipped DJ is in Fair condition. Front cover has a closed split the length of the white circle, chips, stains and tears. The spine has stains, moderate spine end loss to the bottom, and heavy loss to the top. The rear flap has minor chipping and stains. The book itself is in Fair condition with moderate water stains to the spine and boards. The contents of the book are clean and bright. The rear map is missing. Slight bow, tight binding. Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. First printing of the second US edition published by Houghton Mifflin in 1967. Price clipped dust jackets are very faded to the spines, with a little wear to the head of the spines and a couple of tiny tears or light chipping to the top edge of The Return, also a minor tear to the edge of The Two Towers, otherwise clean and tidy. Black cloth covers with bright gilt lettering to the spines, the front of each volume has gilt and metallic red, orange and purple decoration to match each jacket, strongly coloured top edges also match the jackets, covers with a few very minor marks, generally sharp corners, the head of the spine of The Return is lightly bruised. Securely bound books, pages lightly age toned, otherwise smart, without inscriptions, each volume complete with fold out map. The slipcase had a split to the top edge which has a been neatly restored and is now robust, the label to the slipcase is faded. Good + condition. N° de réf. du vendeur 001003

All fore edge corners are firm, sharp and square. The dust jackets are in very good condition over all, noting a light crease running vertically down the jacket of vol.1 with a tiny ink mark at the bottom edge of it and also to the foot of its spine, a few dust & finger marks on the back panels and a tiny scuff to centre of the spine of vol.2.; otherwise, the jackets have no other tears, tape or loss.
