First edition in English of the Austrian socialist thinker's most important work, a "remarkable study of the cardinal doctrine of revolutionary socialism" (introduction, p. 5), with the publisher's "presentation copy" blind stamp to the title and following leaf. The work was originally published in Germany in 1886 as Das Recht auf den vollen Arbeitsertrag in geschichtlicher Darstellung. The brother of Carl Menger, Anton sought to propagate socialist ideas on juridical grounds. Foxwell's 106-page introduction and bibliography of the English Socialist School are here published for the first time. Einaudi 3829; Sraffa 4073. Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dark blue endpapers, edges uncut. Illegible contemporary ownership inscription to half-title, ink annotations to the text in the same hand throughout, the rest of the contents unopened. Minimal sunning to spine, slight paper residue to half-title and title, else a fresh, tight copy.
