First edition. Publisher's original blue cloth with red titles to the upper board and spine, in the Alfred Sindall illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated with a frontispiece and three further plates in black and white by Alfred Sindall. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the extremities. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has several short closed tears and a small chip to the upper spine fold. Not price-clipped (5s net to the lower front flap). An attractive example. The third title in a small series of highly regarded World War Two novels by Rowland Walker which chronicle the events of the different Military services and are notable for containing the actual names of those involved and dates of operations. The author was, with the publication of 'Dastral of the Flying Corps' in 1918, one of the first servicemen to write flying stories from personal experience rather than research.
