An acclaimed American journalist, novelist, and short-story writer, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. Hemingway s writing was influenced by his experience as a foreign correspondent, living abroad in Paris, and his travels through Cuba and Africa. He passed away in July 1961. "The Sun Also Rises" was Hemingway s first novel published in 1926. It received mixed reviews upon publication but is today recognized as one of Hemingway s greatest works.
