Cloth. Etat : Near Fine. None (illustrateur). First edition. A superior copy of this first edition collection of poems from the T'ang dynasty, in the unclipped dust wrapper. The Tang dynasty is considered to be the golden age in the arts and culture of China, in power from 618 to 906 AD. The present volume is part of 'The Wisdom of East Series,' which published the first collection of poems from the T'ang dynasty in 19040 following a collection which appeared in the eighteenth century, compiled by a Chinese scholar. This volume comprises a further selection of those beautiful, tender, and humorous poems, the first edition of this work. An uncommonly bright copy in the like dust wrapper, unclipped. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally excellent with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine.
