Item description from seller

[Historical Fiction] FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (24 x 16cm), pp.[8] 277 [3]. With battle plan and illustrated endpapers. Publisher's navy cloth with gilt titles to spine. With the dust-jacket illustrated by David Scutt, priced at £16.99. A fine, as-new copy. Ensign Richard Sharpe is returning by sea from the British campaign in India (as covered in Tiger, Triumph and Fortress). It is late 1805, and his voyage could take him via Cape Trafalgar, so why not make an adventure of it? The greatest difficulty in writing this book, says Bernard Cornwell, was engineering the plot so that Sharpe was aboard a fighting ship of the Royal Navy (traditionally he would have sailed home in an East Indiaman, a merchant ship), but once that was solved Sharpe could give a capable hand in this, the greatest of all sea battles fought under sail. In chronological order it is the fourth book in the epic Sharpe saga.
