Publisher's burgandy cloth, spine lettered in gilt and ruled in black; upper board lettered in gilt and with fillets in black, lower board with fillets in blind; top edge gilt; pp. [viii], 314; with 16 black and white plates, including a frontispiece; light rubbing to extremities, especially at head and tail of spine; a few minor marks to lower board; ink inscription to front fly-leaf; light spotting to outer and lower edge, with a few light spots throughout; plates bright and clean, a good copy. First edition. This text recounts a lecture given by Swinglehurst on 12th December 1864 on the subject.
