A propos de cet article

Description :

A first edition copy of this very scarce autobiography of John Fraser, Yeoman Gaoler of the Tower of London. The first edition of this very scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with a handwritten spine label adhered to the spine. An entertaining autobiography by John Fraser, published with the help of his daughter. It follows the course of his career from his time in the Royal Northumbrian Fusiliers, to his promotion to sergeant-major after twenty-five years of service, subsequently his selection to become a Yeoman Warder of the Tower of London, and lastly his promotion to Yeoman Gaoler. With a foreword by Major-General Sir George Younghusband. With a sixteen-page publisher's catalogue to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with marks to the front board. Cloth is torn to the joints in places. Shelf wear to the extremities. Front hinge is slightly strained but held firmly by cords. Front free end paper has been tipped in using tape. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot throughout. Good. N° de réf. du vendeur 896M10
