A propos de cet article

SKYWARD COMMANDER RICHARD E. BYRD 1928 1ST EDITION/1ST PRINTING VERY GOOD. I feel privileged to be able to offer this iconic book of bravery and heroism, especially in the First Edition/First Printing. Please find: Skyward, by Commander Richard E. Byrd, U.S. Navy (Retired). The subtitle reads: Man s mastery of the air as shown by the brilliant flights of America s leading air explorer. His life, his thrilling adventures, his North Pole and Trans-Atlantic flights, together with his plans for conquering the Antarctic by air. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 x 8 ¾ inches, 359 pages) was published by G. P. Putnam s Sons of New York, dated 1928. There is a note on the copyright page which says: This copy is from the first printing of Skyward and will be the only printing to contain the photogravure frontispiece portrait of the author. The book is bound in sky blue cloth covers with bold gilt titles on the cover and spine. The book is well illustrated with 48 b&w photographs, typically one to a page on glossy paper and each with its explanatory caption. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are bright and very presentable, particularly the gilt titles but there has been some minor rubbing to the edges and light bumping to the corners and spine tips. Inside, the book is unmarked except for a neat bookplate of a former owner on the front endpaper. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright throughout, without toning and certainly no foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
