A spectacular book that shows some of the best lithographical printing ever. Born in Desden, Lewis (Ludwig) Gruner (1801-1882) became Prince Albert's trusted advisor on art and design. He became known for his expertise in chromolithography, a technique that allowed for detailed colour printing using multiple stones. This book, exemplifies the complexity and sophistication of his methods. The plates are, simply put breathtaking in their brightness and care of design.
